As golf continues to gain momentum across India, prominent figures from administrative and sports circles are emphasising the need to make the game more accessible to young talent. Speaking at the NDTV Pro-Am event in Vizag, Atul Singh, IPS, Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Government of Andhra Pradesh, highlighted how strategic collaborations can transform Indian golf from an elite pursuit into an inclusive sport for men and women alike.

Addressing the barriers surrounding the sport, Atul Singh, the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony, highlighted the financial challenges faced by emerging players. "Golf is a bit of a costly game for most of the youngsters to play," he told NDTV during the event.

However, he expressed strong optimism about joint initiatives aimed at grassroots development, particularly the partnership between NDTV and the Indian Golf Pro League (IGPL).

"This collaboration between NDTV and IGPL is bound to motivate a lot of youngsters who will get support from this collaboration to participate in this event," Singh said.

Highlighting India's growing stature in international golf, Atul Singh pointed to recent achievements, especially in Olympics and Asian Games, as proof of the country's immense potential. In the Asian Games this year, Pranavi Urs bagged a gold medal in women's individual golf while Aditi Ashok had won a historic 4th place finish at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

"As recently, our girls' team won Asian gold medal, and in fact in 2020 Olympics, Aditi very narrowly missed a medal in Olympics also. So this collaboration is bound to motivate more youngsters into the golf event, and we will have more medals and champions in the future," he concluded.
