Two buildings collapsed in Vadodara's Altadara area early this morning, leaving five people dead and over 35 trapped in its debris.
The incident happened around 4.30 am, the chief fire brigade officer of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation said.
The three-storeyed buildings were part of a huge housing complex constructed by the Vadodara Urban Development Authority.
There are 54 other similar buildings in the housing complex. Seen here, the injured being taken to the hospital.
According to the fire department, about 13 to 14 families were staying in one of the buildings.
Rescue operations are underway and Chief Minister Narendra Modi tweeted to say that minister Nitinbhai Patel was on his way to the site.
