When Eden Gardens bid farewell to Sachin Tendulkar

As Sachin Tendulkar played his 199th and penultimate Test in Kolkata, Eden Gardens bid farewell to him in a gala presentation ceremony after India went on to beat the West Indies by an innings and 51 runs in the first Test.

After MS Dhoni used all of his four frontline bowlers in order to end the second-wicket stand between Kieran Powell and Darren Bravo, he turned to the 'man with the golden arm' Sachin Tendulkar on Day 3 of the first Test between India and West Indies at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Thursday. However, unlike the first innings, Sachin went wicket-less in the second outing in his three overs. Whenever the ball went anywhere close to him, the Eden Gardens crowd went berserk. And, the Little Master obliged with the same gesture. Image courtesy: PTI

One of the loose balls from Sachin was dispatched hard by Darren Bravo and it took a bad bounce and hurt Virat Kohli at the extra cover region. Sachin immediately went to attend to him. Kohli later went off the field for some time to get attention from the physio. Image courtesy: BCCI

A gala presentation ceremony was planned for Sachin after the match. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee presented Sachin was a miniature Banyan tree with 199 leaves on it.
