Actor-comedian Raju Srivastava died on Wednesday after over 40 days of hospitalisation following cardiac arrest while working out at gym. He was 58. Srivastava was admitted to Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 10.

Here are five points about Raju Srivastava:

  1. He was born as Satya Prakash Srivastava on December 25, 1963, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. According to IMDb, his father Rameshchandra Srivastava was a poet. In his school time he used to imitate his teachers.

  2. Raju Srivastava performed small roles in Bollywood films like Salman Khan-starrer Maine Pyar Kiya, Shah Rukh Khan's Baazigar and Bombay To Goa.

  3. He got his big break with the comedy talent show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, which aired on TV between 2005 and 2017. His imaginary characters Gajodhar and Manohar were loved by one and all.

  4. The comedian married Sikha from Lucknow in 1993. The couple has two children - a girl named Antara and a boy Ayushman.

  5. The Samajwadi Party had fielded Raju Shrivastav from Kanpur for the 2014 General Elections, but he returned the ticket. The comedian joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in March, 2014.
