A solar ironing cart designed by a Class 9 student from Tamil Nadu has won her the Children's Climate Prize from Sweden. Vinisha Umashankar's innovation has the potential to improve air quality as it could completely eliminate use of charcoal in conventional irons. With ten million ironing carts estimated across the country, releasing lot of smoke, burning 50 million kilograms of charcoal every day, this could be a game-changer in fighting climate change. The 14-year-old in Thiruvannamalai is now working on launching a commercial model. NDTV caught up Vinisha Umashankar who was chosen for the APJ Kalam Innovation Award.
