New Delhi:

India added 3,615 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,45,79,088, while the active cases declined to 40,979, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

The death count climbed to 5,28,584 with 22 fatalities which includes eight deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.09 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.72 per cent, the ministry said.

Tamil Nadu Reports 535 New Covid Cases

Tamil Nadu registered 535 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, pushing the total caseload to 35.82 lakh while the total death count remained unchanged at 38,046 with zero fresh fatalities.

Recoveries grew to 35,38,507 with 509 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, leaving 5,498 active infections, a medical bulletin said here.

Chennai added 104 new cases followed by Chengalpet 54, Coimbatore 43 while the remaining cases were spread across other districts.

Twenty districts reported new cases below 10 while Kallakurichi and Tirupathur reported zero new infections.

Gujarat Reports 93 New Covid Cases

Gujarat on Wednesday reported 93 fresh Covid cases, taking its tally to 12,74,552, the state health department said.

A total of 146 people were discharged, which raised the number of recoveries to 12,62,618, leaving the state with 900 active cases, it said.

The count of Covid fatalities remained unchanged at 11,034, the department said in a release.

Mumbai Reports 116 New Covid Cases, 1 Death

Mumbai on Wednesday reported 116 new coronavirus cases and one more death linked to the infection, taking the overall tally to 11,50,033 and the total death count to 19,731, said the city civic body.

After two days, the city has reported more than 100 COVID-19 cases. A day ago, the financial capital had logged 85 COVID-19 cases and zero fatalities, while on Monday, 51 people had tested positive for the infection, while one patient died.

The new COVID-19 cases were detected after 8,896 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative count to 1,82,95,018, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) bulletin said.

Madhya Pradesh Reports 16 New Covid Cases

Madhya Pradesh reported 16 new coronavirus-positive cases on Wednesday, which took the state's overall infection tally to 10,54,268, a health official said.

The total death count remained unchanged at 10,771 as no fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, he said.

The case positivity rate stood at 0.3 per cent.

The recovery count increased by 32 to touch 10,43,374, leaving the state with 123 active cases, the official said.

Delhi Reports 88 New Covid Cases

Delhi logged 88 fresh Covid cases with a positivity rate of 1.01 per cent on Wednesday, according to data issued by the health department data.

No Covid-related fatality was reported, it said.  The new cases were detected from 8,751 tests conducted the previous day, the department said in its latest bulletin.

With the fresh cases, Delhi's COVID-19 tally has climbed to 20,03,207. The total death count remained unchanged at 26,501, it said.

COVID-19 shots linked with temporary increase in menstrual cycle length: Study

COVID-19 vaccination is associated with an average increase in menstrual cycle length of less than one day, a study published in the British Medical Journal has found.

The researchers from Oregon Health & Science University, US, determined that on average, vaccinated people experienced an increase of less than one day in each menstrual cycle in which they were vaccinated.

They found a 0.71 day increase after the first vaccine dose and a 0.56 day increase after the second shot. The study found that women who received both doses in a single cycle experienced a 3.91 day increase in cycle length.
