Justice For Every Child

#Justice4EveryChild: Campaigning For Children's Rights

The joy of seeing a child smile is the most precious experience. But sadly, this is not the reality for every child in the country. In fact, there are many who are in the shackles of slavery and exploited sexually. But there is one man who has been working tirelessly for the past four decades to do just one simple thing, to bring a smile to every child's face. And his mission is Justice For Every Child.

In this special episode, meet Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, a global campaigner for children's rights; Satyarthi Movement's child stars, Lalita Duhariya and Jai Kumar Poddar; Sarod Maestros Ayaan Ali Bangash and Amaan Ali Bangash who have extended their support to the campaign.

Highlights of #Justice4EveryChild Telethon: An Initiative For Child Victims Of Sexual Abuse

New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV), in collaboration with Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi has initiated a year-long campaign #Justice4EveryChild to support child victims of sexual abuse and rape who are fighting their cases in court. The campaign aims to intervene in 5,000 cases of child sexual abuse and rape in 100 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) across the country with the highest backlogs of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012) cases across India.

Child sexual abuse and rape is a national crisis. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) Report for 2019, three children are raped and five children are sexually assaulted every hour in India. Justice For Every Child is a national campaign that will ensure victims of child sexual abuse and rape get legal representation, mental health support, rehabilitation and compensation to enable them to heal and continue their lives with dignity and freedom.

    About The Campaign

    About The Campaign

Justice for Every Child is a year-long campaign by Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation and NDTV to support child victims  of sexual abuse and rape who are fighting for justice in court.

The horror of what they have gone through is multiplied many times over by what then follows the actual crime – a long and excruciating wait for justice.
Do you know that the current backlog of cases of crimes against children will take over eight years to clear? And that is if no new cases are added.
Child victims  and their families are usually not aware of their right to access mental health support, financial compensation and rehabilitation. They feel frustrated as they  navigate the complex criminal justice system without a designated support person.
The vulnerability of female survivors is compounded by social ostracisation, which often causes them to drop out of school and face gender-based discrimination.
When there is no fear of the law, no fear of justice, the criminals act with impunity. The public loses confidence in the justice delivery system and the abuse of children continues unchecked.
Justice For Every Child  will ensure victims  of child sexual abuse and rape get legal representation, mental health support, rehabilitation and compensation to enable them to heal and continue their lives with dignity and freedom.
An initiative of Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, the campaign will intervene in 5,000 cases of child sexual abuse and rape in 100 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) in 100 districts with the highest backlogs of POCSO cases across India.
Keeping our children safe, by swiftly punishing those who cause them grievous harm, should be a high priority for all of us.
The outrage and action needs to be as widespread as the violence. With your support this campaign will generate much needed funds to bolster the systems and  institutions that will ensure the implementation of law,   rehabilitation and healing of survivors and their families.
It will make our communities safer for children so that they are free to grow and flourish.

    Campaign Ambassador

‘This is a National Emergency,’ says Campaign Ambassador Farhan Akhtar, talking about the crisis of the rising cases of child sexual abuse and rape in India.

    Aims Of The Campaign

    • Mobilise resources and funds support child survivors and their families in pending child sexual abuse and child rape cases in 100 districts.
    • Increase reporting of child sexual abuse cases
    • Increased public awareness and engagement for justice delivery for survivors.
    • Strengthen and ensure implementation of standards of justice delivery through legal representation, support persons and mental health support for cases of child sexual abuse and rape
