In a major crackdown on online child sexual abuse, the cyber cell of Maharashtra Police arrested a 25-year-old youth from Panvel on charges of uploading and selling child pornography clips. This came in the wake of a complaint filed by the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation. The accused, Piyush Satish More, was arrested after it came to light that someone was selling pornographic clips on a social media app. The police posed as customers and deposited the money to the notified account and were then able to zero in on the accused.

Sharing details of the case, Yashasvi Yadav, Special Inspector General, Maharashtra Cyber Department, said,
There are two significant aspects of this case. For the first time, we have found Indian-made child pornography. It is one of the rarest cases so we see it as a major breakthrough. Secondly, we have got more than one terabyte of such data which is one of the biggest seizures in recent times.

The foundation is also offering technical support to the cyber cell in matters related to monitoring different platforms like the dark web, Telegram, and Discord for child sexual abuse material besides helping the police investigate related cases by identifying the offender and creating dummy accounts.

Sundar Krishnan, Director of Technology and Partnerships, Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation said,
Our strategy is to behave like a central coordination hub where we intend to support various states in the form of hardware, software, the training. And these are the pieces to combat Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). There are so many technologies that are being used by perpetrators in promoting, consuming, and transporting CSAM. Unless our law enforcement is capable enough and they are provided with the necessary tools, techniques, and tactics to handle these, we will never be able to combat CSAM.
