  3. The incident had a deep impact on the child's mind

One evening this April when 15-year-old Vinay (name changed) and his friend were returning home, Vinay's neighbor waylaid them and took them to a secluded corner where he forcefully intoxicated him and then raped him along with another friend. Trembling with fear, Vinay reached home. An overwhelming sense of guilt prevented him to speak out, but his mother felt something wasn't quite right. She went to his friend's house and got to know what had happened.

Distressed, Vinay was mentally a wreck. He needed counselling to bring him out of the fear and anxiety that gripped him. Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation's sister organisation Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA), which has been appointed as the support person in the case, is assisting the child in getting mental health support to enable him to lead a normal life. Though financially weak, Vinay's parents however are determined to get justice for their son and BBA is providing all possible support for the same.

Dhananjay Tingal, Executive Director, Bachpan Bachao Andolan said,

In this case, the child, who is a 15-year-old student was sexually abused by neighbour and one more person. When this incident came to light, it was referred to us and BBA was appointed as support person. Since the family has financial issues, we have also moved the application for compensation. We have been able to work with them so that they are ready to persuade the case and the accused is punished.
