Sexual Intent Key, Not Skin-To-Skin Contact: SC On Quashing Controversial Verdict By Bombay HC

The Supreme Court recently struck down a controversial Bombay High Court order that acquitted a man of sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl because "there was no skin-to-skin contact" with the victim. The High Court order, incidentally passed by a female judge in January, triggered massive outrage nationwide with child rights activists and legal experts raising concerns that it would set a "dangerous precedent". The Supreme court recently quashed the verdict and said sexual intent is key, not "skin-to-skin".
