How The Armed Forces Led Rescue Efforts In Kerala

The rescue and relief operations during the Kerala floods by the Indian Armed, Naval and Air Forces have been exemplary. At the NDTV-Tata Sky #IndiaForKerala telethon, Army spokesperson Colonel Aman Anand said that the situation has improved and one engineering task force and two medical teams are presently on ground. Over 13,000 people have been rescued and the army resorted to making bridges of coconut and banana trees for rescue operations. Captain DK Sharma, Spokesperson, Indian Navy said that medical teams are on ground to distribute relief materials coming in. Wing Commander Anupam Banerjee said that the air force's transport aircrafts are continuing to bring in supplies. Commander Banerjee also said that helicopters are on standby and Indian Air Force has contributed an amount of Rs 20 crore for relief operations in Kerala.
