At least six people, including four women, were killed and one person was injured after a portion of a three-storey chawl collapsed in Mumbai's Mankhurd area on Saturday night, officials said.

Four to five persons are feared trapped after a ground-plus-three-storey 'chawl' partially collapsed in Mumbai's Mankhurd area on Sunday night amid heavy rains, civic officials said.

The decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of students, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a release on Sunday evening.

In view of the forecast, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has appealed to people to remain alert and venture outdoors only if absolutely necessary.
