Raj Shamani-Macron Podcast Teaser Features Sunglasses, Davos Speech

Raj Shamani-Macron Podcast Teaser Features Sunglasses, Davos Speech

Podcaster Raj Shamani has dropped a teaser of an interview with French President Emmanuel Macron, who is currently on a visit to India. The clip features Macron's famous speech at Davos last month.

Macron had garnered attention for his speech at the World Economic Forum 2026 where he slammed US President Donald Trump's proposed takeover of Greenland. His choice of a striking pair of blue reflective aviator sunglasses while addressing leaders at Forum had also become a talking point.

In the teaser released on Instagram, Macron is handing over his sunglasses to the entrepreneur. When Shamani welcomes him to the podcast, the French leader replies, “For sure,” —a nod to his Davos speech that went viral both for his rebuke of Trump and for his aviator glasses.

The Macron-special episode of Shamani's 'Figuring It Out' podcast will be out today, Feb. 19, at 9:09 pm.

Emmanuel Macron's Sunglass Moment At Davos

At Davos, Macron slammed Trump for proposing levies on countries that opposed his plans to take over Greenland. He wore aviator sunglasses during the appearance, attributed to a burst blood vessel in his eye, Reuters reported. The moment  went viral, with many comparing the look to Tom Cruise's appearance in the 1986 film 'Top Gun'.

Meanwhile, Trump had mocked the French leader for his look at Davos, reported Reuters. "I watched him yesterday, with those beautiful sunglasses. What the hell happened?"

The speech had led to a surge in the share price of Italian company, iVision Tech, as the sunglasses worn by Macron were part of its high-end eyewear brand, Henry Jullien. The shares of iVision Tech jumped almost 28%, adding around $4.1 million to the company's market capitalisation, according to the report.

Macron's India Visit

Macron is currently on his fourth official visit to India. The French leader landed in Mumbai on Feb. 17 for bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Macron will also participate in the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on Feb. 19.

During the visit, Macron invited PM Modi to the 52nd G7 Summit later this year, which will be presided over by France.

The French President said, "This year, 2026, is a year of acceleration for our partnership, of translating much of this agenda into action. It is also the year in which the Prime Minister, you, will chair the BRICS group, and France will chair the G7 group. In this spirit, I have invited Prime Minister Modi as a very special guest to the G7 Summit in Evian. It is also in this spirit that we are keen to build consensus a few weeks before this G7 Summit through an ad hoc meeting that will enable us to try to establish concrete areas of agreement on the international agenda and the resolution of major imbalances before the Evian Summit."

Macron noted that the two countries will move together to not only bring the G7 and BRICS closer, but also their common views in the sectors of solar energy, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence.

The G7 or Group of Seven is an annual gathering of leaders from the UK, the US, France, Italy, Canada, Germany, Japan and the European Union (EU). BRICS is an international group of eleven countries that includes India, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE.
