In an NDTV interview, Gita Gopinath, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, discussed the IMF's latest global growth forecast of 3.3% for 2025-2026, noting divergent trends with strong US growth, weaker Europe, and challenges in China. On India, Gopinath highlighted its status as the fastest-growing major economy at 6.5% but underscored the need for sustained public investment, ease of doing business reforms, land market improvements, and reduced tariffs to achieve durable growth. While India aspires to become a $10 trillion economy by 2047, she emphasized the necessity of deeper structural reforms to meet this goal in a dynamic global environment.
