India's Richest 1% Hold 51.5% Of Country's Total Wealth

Top 1 per cent of India's population holds 51.53 per cent of the total national wealth, whereas the top 10 per cent holds 77.4 per cent of the national wealth, according to a report by Oxfam. "It is the governments who are fuelling this kind of inequality. They are fuelling it by failing to tax the rich individuals and the big companies," said Winnie Byanyima, executive director, Oxfam International.
