New-Gen Mercedes-Benz GLA and AMG GLA 35

Mercedes-Benz has officially launched the new-generation GLA range in India. The lineup includes both the regular GLA and the performance-spec AMG GLA 35 models.

The much-awaited new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA and AMG GLA 35 4Matic models have been launched in the Indian market. The new GLA range will be available in three variants - petrol 200, diesel 220d and the 220d 4M, while the AMG GLA 35 4Matic will come in a single variant.

The standard GLA comes in three variants - GLA 200 (Rs. 42.10 lakh), GLA 220d (Rs. 43.7 lakh), and GLA 220d 4Matic (Rs. 46.7 lakhs). The former two are offered in Progressive Line trim and the 220d 4matic in AMG-Line trim. As for the AMG GLA 35, it is priced at Rs. 57.30 lakh. All are introductory ex-showroom India prices.

Aesthetically, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA looks more muscular than its predecessor. The top-end trim gets a signature diamond-stud pattern grille with a chrome slat at the centre and the sweptback LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs.

The new-gen Mercedes-Benz AMG GLA 35 comes with the Panamericana-style grille with vertical chrome slats, and a more aggressive bumper and wider air intakes. It also features multibeam LED headlamps, 19-inch alloys, adaptive LED tail lights, twin exhaust with chrome elements, and much more.

The new GLA comes in both petrol and diesel options. The powertrain is sourced from the A-Class Limousine. While the former is 1.3-litre petrol tuned to make 161 bhp and 250 Nm of power figures, the oil burner is a 2.0-litre engine is good for 188 bhp and 400 Nm. The petrol mill is mated to a 7-speed DCT unit, while the diesel engine comes with an 8-speed G-tronic automatic torque converter unit.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GLA 35 sports an AMG-specific interior. It comes equipped with a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, black interior, sport seats with red stitching, Burmester surround sound system, AMG suspension, and Keyless Go comport package and more.

On the inside, the new regular GLA gets a new cabin with a large single unit display with split function for infotainment and instrumentation. It also comes with an MBUX infotainment system with a voice command, wireless charging, multifunctional steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, and more.
