Over the last few decades, one of India's richest states- Punjab, has been gripped by an insidious undercurrent of rampant drug abuse, cutting across all barriers including caste, gender and age. A problem that the government recognises and has made the fight against drugs a key priority by taking steps to counter the problem and create widespread awareness regarding the dangers and consequences of drug abuse. The implementation of the Comprehensive Action Against Drug Abuse (CADA) follows a revamped, three-pronged strategy of enforcement, de-addiction and prevention.
