The death count climbed to 5,25,199 with 31 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The active cases comprise 0.26 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.54 per cent, the ministry said.
An increase of 2,143 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

Himachal Pradesh sees spike in COVID-19 cases
Himachal Pradesh has witnessed a spike in coronavirus infection with the state reporting a five-fold increase in cases in June compared to May and 82 fresh cases in the first two days of July.
The positivity rate has shot up from 0.8 in May to 6.6 in July, news agency PTI quoted an official, who said the development was "worrying".

Delhi Covid Update: 678 New Covid Cases, 2 More Deaths In Delhi
Delhi on Saturday recorded 678 fresh coronavirus cases while two more people died due to the viral disease, according to data shared by the city health department. This is the third consecutive day when the daily case count is less than 1,000. Delhi's death count stands at 26,266. The number of active cases in Delhi stands at 3,410.
