India has recorded a total of 16,047 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 4,41,90,697, according to the Union Health Ministry.
With 54 new fatalities due to Covid in the last 24 hours, the overall Covid-related death count has reached 5,26,826.
India's active caseload currently stands at 1,28,261 and accounts for 0.31 per cent of the total cases.
The recovery rate is currently at 98.50 per cent. As many as 19,539 recoveries from the infection were logged in the last 24 hours thereby increasing the total recoveries to 4,35,35,610.

2,146 New Covid Cases, 8 Deaths In Delhi, Positivity Rate Spikes To 17.83%
Delhi on Wednesday reported eight fatalities due to coronavirus, the highest in nearly 180 days, and 2,146 new cases with a positivity rate of 17.83 per cent, according to data shared by the health department here.
The national capital on February 13 reported 12 deaths due to the viral disease.
On Tuesday, Delhi reported 2,495 new coronavirus cases with a positivity rate of 15.41 per cent and seven fatalities.
The national capital saw 1,372 infections and six deaths on Sunday as the case positivity rate rose to 17.85 per cent, the highest since January 21, it said.
Maharashtra Reports 1,847 Covid Cases, 7 Deaths
Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 1,847 Covid cases, including 852 in Mumbai, and 7 deaths, the health department said in a bulletin.
With the fresh additions, the state's Covid case count rose to 80,64,336 and the death count to 1,48,157.
Maharashtra's tally of active cases stands at 11,889 as of Wednesday.
A total of 1,840 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of recoveries in Maharashtra to 79,04,320. The recovery rate in the state is 98.02 per cent.
Mumbai Reports 852 New Covid Cases, Almost 79% Rise In 24 Hours
Mumbai on Wednesday reported 852 Covid cases, the highest daily rise after July 1, and a single death, taking the tally to 11,29,285 and death count to 19,661, the city civic body said.
On July 1, Mumbai reported 978 cases and two fatalities, before the daily number of cases started dipping gradually.
Barring the first two days of this month, Mumbai has been reporting more than 400 Covid infections every day. The spike in the number of cases in the last 24 hours is nearly 79 per cent or 376 more compared to 476 infections reported on Tuesday.
The tally of active cases surged past the 3,500-mark to reach 3,545, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) bulletin said.
Two-Fold Rise In Delhi Covid Deaths In August Against Last 10 Days Of JulyDelhi has recorded 32 deaths due to Covid so far in August, an over two-fold rise as against the last 10 days of July when 14 people died due to the viral disease, according to official data.
Delhi recorded two deaths on August 1, three on August 2, five on August 3, four on August 4, two on August 5, one on August 6, two on August 7, six on August 8, and seven on August 9, the data showed.
One death each was recorded on July 22 and 23, two each on July 24, 25, 26, and 27, zero on July 28, one each on July 29 and 30, and zero on July 31.

Himachal Pradesh recorded 526 new Covid cases and one death due to the disease on Wednesday, pushing the state's infection tally to 3,06,269 and the death count to 4,161, officials said.
The count of active Covid cases in the state now stands at 4,002, they said.
As many as 861 more people have recovered from the disease in the state, taking their number to 2,98,086.
Rajasthan Reports 613 New Covid Cases, 2 Deaths
Rajasthan on Wednesday reported 613 fresh Covid cases that took its infection tally to 12,99,007, while 2 more deaths pushed the death count to 9,592, according to a health department report.
Of the fresh cases, 159 were reported from Jaipur alone, the report said.
The latest deaths were reported from Jhalawar and Banswara districts, it said.
The number of active Covid cases in the state stands at 4,158, the report said.
More Transmissible Omicron Sub-Variant Detected In DelhiA new sub-variant of the coronavirus strain Omicron has been detected in samples sent for genome sequencing in Delhi's Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, a top medical officer of the hospital said.
The Omicron sub-variant BA 2.75 has been detected in many samples, LNJP Hospital Medical Director Dr Suresh Kumar told NDTV.

Assam logged 261 fresh COVID-19 infections, a decrease of 43 cases compared to the previous day, as the tally mounted to 7,42,106, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said.
The death count remained unchanged at 6,673, as no Covid fatalities were reported in the state for the fifth consecutive day.
The new cases were detected out of 7,195 samples at a positivity rate of 3.63 per cent, it said.
Assam now has 3,754 active cases, while 7,30,330 people have recovered from the disease so far. The NHM bulletin added that 4,91,22,558 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the state thus far.
Maharashtra's Thane Logs 189 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours
Thane has reported 189 new COVID-19 cases, raising the infection tally in the Maharashtra district to 7,35,605, a health official said today.
With the addition of the latest COVID-19 numbers on Tuesday, the district currently has 1,110 active cases, he said.
One death was also reported on Tuesday, which raised the COVID-19 death count in Thane to 11,933, he said.
The recovery count has gone up to 7,23,124, the official added.
