Service to humanity is service to the God: Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice-Chairman, Bharti Enterprises
I am personally very deeply impressed by the Sikh religion. I think it is youngest of the major religions globally. Clearly what Sikhism teach us that there is only one God. That's the most powerful message which one can pick up - Ek Onkar. I would say the other thing, the golden rules which Sikhism teaches - to meditate, to connect with god, to earn an honest living and to share your earnings for charity are very important for life. The Sikhs are always the first one to come forward. This is something which is imbibed in their DNA. Without any discrimination, they serve with love and care.

Justice Madan Lokur, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India Joins #DilSeSewa telethon
I think that all of us, Sikh, Hindu, Muslim or Christian, everyone needs to help each other. It is important to extend a helping hand to the people who cannot afford healthcare. For them the Sikh community and others are doing a great work. DSGMC has taken a very bold step. They are providing ambulance service, langar, oxygen. Everyone knew that if you need oxygen, go to gurdwara. You don't even need to step out of your car. They are also providing beds. This care also gives confidence to unwell person. The Sikh community is doing a magnificent job.

When every system is collapsing and people are dying, the initiatives carrying out by gurdwaras are significant: Rajiv Nayar, Senior Advocate
I am also told that not only this gurdwara but lot of neighbourhood gurdwaras have opened up oxygen langars system on a lesser scale. It is very amazing that how the Sikhs have opened up their gurdwara and shrines for people. It is a lesson for Hindus, Muslims and Christians. Why can't they open up their gates? I think what I have learnt from my father is the spirit of helping people. The most important thing is, if you reach out to help people when they need it is when it is the most appreciated. I am sure generations after generations will remember the contributions of the Sikh. I am proud to be called half Sikh and associated with sewa.

This is the time to wake up the valor in you: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder, The Art Of Living Foundation on #DilSeSewa telethon
This is a very challenging time. Usually, when there is a calamity, people can jump in and they work. Now on one side, this is the time that people see so much of pain and suffering all around and they are coming out to help others. On the other hand, there are those who are not doing any service activity. They are getting into a sort of deep depression because they remain in their own small cluster and in their own well. You are staying in your own well, and then you keep sulking even more, becoming more miserable. But this is the time to wake up the valor in you and come to others help. Then I think that you can get over the mental trauma by helping others.

Immensely proud to see footage of the Gurdwaras providing selfless service to the community in these times of crisis: Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, Labour MP (Slough), U.K
I want to commend the incredible work of voluntary organisations, including British based charities like Khalsa Aid, but also people within the diaspora, and other good minded people who have been sending money out to India, who have been sending oxygen concentrators. It has made us very, very proud because they are practicing what they're preaching that we should be working for the betterment of all, regardless of background or color or creed. The 'sarwat da bhala' principle is ingrained within the Sikh faith. I think it is important that people in media, people in public life get together with civil society. That they don't just leave it to government, they don't just leave it to voluntary organisations. It should be a team effort.

We had put up first ever mobile corona testing clinics and ambulances for Delhi containment zones and for testing at the doorsteps in the villages of Punjab and had also supported the langar sewa together with DSGMC. This year, because of oxygen shortage, about 500 oxygen concentrators, along with Sun foundation, generous support of Mr. Steve Gupta, Chairman, Gupta family foundation from Toronto were donated. And we had donated over 300 concentrators to Gurdwara Rakab Ganj for Guru Teg Bahadur COVID center, which is a very good facility. Also, we had donated to various other gurdwaras like Rajouri Garden, Greater Kailash, Defence Colony, Shiv Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, who all are doing an exemplary service.

The Sikh Community helps everyone without looking at their religion or race: Rajeev Juneja, Managing Director and Vice Chairman, Mankind Pharma
Sewa cannot be done without the feelings- the heart. We have a philosphy, that 'logic' is great but at the end it's about heart. Last year, we thought we should help those people who are helping the whole society- doctors and nurses, so we contributed there. My wife is a half Sikh. Selflessness of Sikh is impressive. If I ask my son to polish my shoes or sweep my floor, he will say, 'Dad, what are you saying?' but the same son will do Sewa in Gurdwara. That's how the environment there at gurdwaras. It changes even the most egoistic persons. What is even more impressive is that they offer you food with dignity and grace and they don't see your caste, class, race.

We have actually started with couple of things; with making sure that hunger relief is taken care of and essential medical help like oxygen concentrators are provided. We have tied up with certain government agencies to support some oxygen concentrators provision. We are tying up with gurdwaras and gurdwara sewa programmes where they are making sure that the food and the sewa programme is continued in their houses. In addition to that, we have done three campaigns in Punjab for vaccination. We have tied up with government agencies for oxygen concentrator supplies and we are also doing gurdwara sewa.

We all need to join hands in these times of crisis irrespective of the region, religion or caste: Rohit Shetty, Director and Producer
My contribution is a drop in the ocean of work being done by DSGMC and Mr Sirsa. I think, the pandemic has taught us one thing that we all need to come together to fight any problem. We have to get over our religion. It is important to associate with organisations like DSGMC and help people. The challenge is that we have to create COVID facilities everywhere which is why what's important more than my contribution is that I am with them.

The Sikhs have changed the definition of religion with their selfless service to the mankind: Naresh Gujral, Senior Rajya Sabha MP
My father had a very unique relationship with the Sikh community. He greatly admired Sikh for the generosity, selflessness, fearless and the fact that they are true patriots. They work for prosperity and mankind. In this pandemic they have redefined words empathy and compassion. I especially admire the role of Sikh youth who have been at the forefront even at the risk of their lives. In these dark days when there is no hope, they are the beacon of hope. This time what I feel is that the Sikhs have changed the very definition of religion. Every Sikh considers the Guru Granth Sahib as a living guru and every gurdwara is their home. And when the need arose, the Sikh opened the doors of the home and converted into COVID care centres. That is their generosity. What needs to be admired is that they didn't look at people's religion. They opened up hospitals to everyone and served with generosity.

Nothing makes all of us more proud of our country than the Kar Seva: Dr. Prannoy Roy
Nothing is more inspiring, nothing is more genuine, nothing has more impact on the current suffering in society and nothing makes all of us more proud of our country than the Kar Sewa - all across India and across the world. All of you who are risking your own lives - working tirelessly among the people in areas which are COVID infected - you could be infected at any moment but you carry on and that's the essence of Chardi Kala. Fearless; living life in the present, caring for others and not thinking about dangers in the future. This 'sewa' by the Sikh community is for everyone - equally.

India is in crisis as it struggles to tackle the devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At a time when infection rates are soaring and every day brings grim news, at a time when beds, oxygen, medicine & hope seem to have all run out, all of India is feeling the same despair, the same distress, the same devastation.
But through the darkness, there has been a ray of light.
The Sikh community has been at the forefront of relentlessly helping people during through the pandemic. If the rich living tradition of food sharing, as widely practiced in langars or community kitchens, fed millions last year, then this year the langars have provided an even more critical & basic element of life – oxygen.
In the time honoured Sikh tradition of selfless service and compassion, these Oxygen Langars sprang up almost immediately across affected cities, and in gurdwaras, where volunteers stood with oxygen cylinders for hours, helping breathless patients breathe, helping India breathe.
The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee & NDTV are coming together for a special fundraising campaign, Dil Se Sewa – Helping India Breathe.
The funds raised will aid in providing this urgently needed support, amongst many others. It will go to support the gurdwara’s immediate & critical interventions like the oxygen langars, a newly created COVID care facility and the free ambulance service. But it will also contribute to other existing efforts that all aim to strengthen India’s health system for the future – the free dialysis hospital, the low cost MRI & CT Scan centre and the dawakhanas that provide medicines at reasonable rates.
