The government has rejected allegations of a 'disability tax' for aid equipment, saying assistive devices will be charged at a 'concessional' 5 per cent. They have however refused a full rollback, saying if devices are made exempt from GST, locally-manufactured devices will bear the burden of input taxes. Differently-abled activists have hit out - 'why tax aid equipment at all?'
