USHA Is Generating Job Opportunities For Inmates And Disabled People By Imparting Them Vocational Skills

The USHA training centres impart stitching and sewing training to the inmates of District Jail Dimapur and the rural women of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, with an aim to generate employment opportunities for them.

Shukla Dey, a master trainer at the USHA Silai School in Dimapur, Nagaland trains nearly ten people, including the inmates of District Jail, Dimapur and its staff. Ms. Dey imbibes in them the necessary livelihood skills.

USHA Silai School in association with Nagaland district department is helping inmates learn new skills. After finishing the sentence, then skills gained will help them run a fully functioning production centre.

Krishna Gopal Hati, a potential USHA master trainer for the Dimapur prison is not only upskilling himself by learning to stitch but also breaking several gender stereotypes in the process.

Sanjana, who is accused of peddling drugs wants to start life afresh after completing her sentence in prison. Therefore, she is learning new skills provided by USHA, so that she can do something for herself and her children.

28 years old Reena is speech and hearing impaired and has been living in the Nari Niketan in Kota for 7 years. From being abandoned by her family to facing prejudices for her impairments, Ms. Reena's life has been challenging. But with the USHA Silai school training, she has a future of hope.

After coming to Nari Niketan, Ms. Reena gave birth to a baby girl named Pritika. Pritika is 7 years old now and lives in the children's home. Ms. Reena plans to save all the money she earns from her training for her daughter's future.

Despite being speech and hearing impaired, Ms. Reena acquired new skills, became a master trainer with USHA and started teaching the inmates of Nari Niketan and the Balika Grah.

Godavari is another Master trainer from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and has been associated with the USHA Silai school for the last 3 years. The training she received there has helped her develop a skill which completely changed her life.

A large part of that training was delivered to Ms. Godavri through the USHA Silai app, downloaded on her phone at the Silai school. Ms. Godavri says that the best feature of the app is that she can view videos on the app and then cut the cloth accordingly . The app helps her a lot in stitching.
