Prem Kumar Vislawath leads Marut Drones as CEO and Co-Founder, transforming drone technology into tools for societal good from Hyderabad, Telangana. His vision blends innovation with India's unique challenges, focusing on agriculture, disaster management, and healthcare to uplift communities.
Marut Drones, founded in 2019, delivers indigenous, mission-ready drones tailored for Indian conditions. The company excels in agriculture by deploying agri-intelligence drones for crop disease detection, precision spraying, and sustainable farming, boosting farmer incomes and productivity. Beyond farms, Marut tackles public safety through mosquito eradication, afforestation, and disinfectant spraying—covering 50 times more area than manual methods while minimizing human risk. In healthcare logistics and governance, their drones ensure medicine delivery to remote areas and support disaster surveillance, aligning with national priorities like self-reliance in technology.
An IIT Guwahati alumnus in Electronics and Computer Engineering (2008 cohort), Vislawath built expertise across edtech and tech firms like Datawind Ltd, Learnpedia, Edutech, and Amplify before launching Marut. These roles honed his skills in scalable products and real-world problem-solving. Reuniting with co-founders Sai Kumar and Suraj Peddi, he channeled their shared IIT passion into drones in 2018, officially establishing the company a year later. Vislawath also co-founded Raasta Studios and Virtual Raasta, pioneering VR/AR innovations, and briefly led Drogo Drones for commercial UAV applications.
Marut integrates AI, IoT, data analytics, and machine learning—firsts in India's drone sector—for end-to-end solutions addressing ecological and social issues. Their work earned Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia (2020), Facebook India Innovation Accelerator for AI in Social Good (2019), and NASSCOM's Emerging Technology Award. In late 2024, a $6.2 million Series A from Lok Capital fueled expansion into Tier 2/3 cities, enhancing drone adoption nationwide. Recognized on platforms like IndiaAI, Marut's efforts promote sustainable environments and resilient communities.
