Established in 1994 in Laxmeshwar, Gadag District, Karnataka, Shri B D Tatti (Annavaru) Memorial Charitable Trust champions welfare for persons with disabilities across North Karnataka. With 62 dedicated staff, it supports children, youth, and adults facing speech, hearing, intellectual, and other impairments, reaching 11 districts through innovative programs.
Named after Shri B D Tatti (Annavaru), a philanthropist revered for lifelong social service, the Trust honors his grandson Dr. S. J. Tatti (also Dr. Siddalingeshwar Tatti), a pediatrician who founded it to aid disabled children. Supported by families like the Manvis and Mahajanashetty brothers, current leaders include Chairman Tatti Shiddalingeshwar Jayabasappa and Hon. Secretary Mahajanashetty Somanath Shivajogeppa. Their vision transformed personal compassion into regional impact.
BDTatti operates community centers in Gadag for early intervention and education, Ek Prayas Centre for autism and ID, and Ek Prayas Livelihood Centre for mothers. Services span early screening via home/Anganwadi visits, audio-verbal therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, mobility aids, inclusive education, advocacy, and livelihood training. Using total communication, tech labs, and audiology equipment, it began with 10 hearing-impaired students, now serving 200+ in enriched environments.
Primarily children and adults with hearing/speech impairments, autism, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and mobility challenges in underserved rural areas. Programs target families in Gadag taluks like Shirahatti and Mundargi, providing barrier-free access and holistic development.
From Laxmeshwar origins, BDTatti expanded to three centers (Gadag, Laxmeshwar, Ron) and 11 districts, offering specialized North Karnataka services unmatched by others. Annual impacts include therapy for physical/speech needs, mobility aids, and capacity-building via partners like Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives and IDFC First Bank.
BDTatti fosters dignity, independence, and inclusion—early interventions improve speech-language, mainstreaming aids school admissions, and livelihoods empower mothers. Testimonials praise its passionate staff, positive environment, and innovations like mobile audiometry, making it a "beacon of hope" for communities. It aligns with SDGs by addressing rising disability needs through awareness, therapy, and advocacy.
With ongoing expansions in structured teaching and partnerships, BDTatti envisions broader reach, sustained innovation, and empowered lives for all disabled individuals.
