A Breakthrough In UAE? Zelenskyy Confirms First Trilateral US-Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks On Friday

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday confirmed that Kyiv, Moscow and Washington will be holding the first-ever trilateral talks for peace on Friday and Saturday. The two-day meeting, involving the representatives of the three countries, will be held in the United Arab Emirates.

Zelenskyy's comments on the trilateral meeting came during a plenary session at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, where he also held talks with US President Donald Trump. The Ukrainian leader said at the session that US representatives were waiting to see how the meeting unfolds.

"Now they are headed to Moscow, and my team will talk to the US representatives. This will be the first tripartite meeting in the Emirates, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow," Anadolu Agency quoted him as saying.

On his hour-long meeting with Trump on Thursday, Zelenskyy said the meeting "was good", and the documents related to the end of the four-year war in Ukraine are nearly finalised.

Zelenskyy said he "really hopes" that Russians would also be ready to make compromises, and it's not Kyiv alone that should be adjusting its position. The upcoming talks, he added, are "better than the complete lack of dialogue" with the Russian side.

Meanwhile, Trump's son-in-law was scheduled to fly to Moscow later on Thursday, accompanied by US envoy Steven Witkoff. They will be meeting Russian representatives there, before proceeding to Abu Dhabi where the tripartite talks are to be held over the next two days.
