World Economic Forum Meet Live Updates: D Fadnavis, Chandrababu Naidu In Davos

World Economic Forum Meet Live Updates: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched the Centre for Global Leadership on Competitiveness in Amaravati, on the second day of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis too posted about forging "new connections" to facilitate "growth and collaboration on a global scale".
With a call for 'collaboration for the intelligent age', the World Economic Forum began its annual meeting by conferring legendary footballer David Beckham and two others with the prestigious Crystal Awards and an opening concert that brought together classical music and AI-generated visuals to spotlight an urgent environmental crisis facing Antarctica. The summit will see 3,000 leaders from around the world convening at the ski resort for five days, till January 24.
Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who is leading a big Indian delegation that comprises a strong representation of states, said he will highlight India's Development Model at Davos and the country's vision for inclusive growth and digital transformation. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said his state would be meeting the world at the meeting and was aspiring to break new ground on the global stage. Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu said he along with his team was ready to put Andhra Pradesh back on the global investment map.
While the WEF had to compete for attention with Trump's inauguration on Monday, it will get to hear from the man himself via video link on Thursday, with CEOs able to directly ask him questions. Members of the Trump administration are expected to attend the WEF later in the week, but names have yet to be confirmed.
"AI Embedded In All Aspect Of Transformation": At Davos, CEO Of Publicis Sapient Nigel Vaz Tells NDTVCEO of Publicis Sapient, who is at Davos, told NDTV that artificial intelligence is going to be embedded in every single aspect of transformation. "I feel like artificial intelligence is essentially us going from human action driven approaches to businesses moving any process forward to now more and more agentic architecture," he said.
"India Emerging As Exciting Location For Businesses": Anant Goenka At DavosVice Chairman of RPG Enterprises, Anant Goenka, who is at Davos, said that India is emerging as an exciting location for businesses to set up manufacturing. According to him, India can be an alternative to China. "I think there are very few bright spots in the world today. The US economy has been doing very well over the last few years. Saudi Arabia and Middle East are doing fairly okay, and the brightest spot of all right now seems like India. With China economy being a little bit in question and the US-China stress that is there, India is emerging as an extremely exciting location for businesses to come set up manufacturing and operations and be an alternative to China. So I think even for us in the group, we are a manufacturing led organisation. And we become a great opportunity for businesses to come in," he said.
"People Don't Realise...": At Davos, HCL Tech Chief Makes Prediction On AIArtificial intelligence (AI) is one of the focus points of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos. HCL Tech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra, recognising the role that AI plays and will play in the years to come, shared some insights on the matter in an interview to NDTV.
Ms Malhotra said AI is the "most democratised" technology compared to some of the tech that came before it.

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, can "fundamentally transform governance", Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh told NDTV Wednesday at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland's Davos. Mr Lokesh also played down fears the (inevitable) advance of AI, and machine learning, will rob millions of their jobs. Instead, the "order of jobs" will be changed, he said, adding, "... I believe that over the next decade jobs are going to be created in areas that we are yet to discover." "Jobs under threat are typically white-collar jobs (but) I think every industrial revolution has shown that it (eventually) creates more jobs... history shows us that. So, I don't believe AI will reduce jobs."

"Really Hate Mosquitoes": At Davos, Adar Poonawalla Explains Vaccine Plans To NDTVSerum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla spoke to NDTV on a range of issues, key among them the vaccine for malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos.
"I just want to say I really hate mosquitoes. They kill more human beings than any other animal on the planet, with all the different mosquito-borne diseases from dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever, malaria. So with that in mind, after COVID, I sort of focused our capex and partnerships with various companies to make vaccines for malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and yellow fever. Those other vaccines are about two years away from launch," Mr Poonawalla told NDTV.
The Pune-based company's malaria vaccine has already been deployed in Africa. It has an efficacy of 77 per cent, "which is very good," he said.
Chandrababu Naidu Lays Vision 2047 For Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh is working hard to become a green hydrogen hub and to take the lead in the area of artificial intelligence (AI) development, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu told NDTV at the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos.
Green hydrogen is a clean energy source that only emits water vapour and leaves no residue in the air.
Mr Naidu, who comes to Davos as part of the 'India Story', said he is keeping a keen eye on the latest global trends on investments.

"The India AI mission has three major objectives that we are going to do in this year itself. First is to create a common compute facility of 10,000 GPUs. Second is to have that very strong talent pipeline. Third is to basically focus on getting the applications in," Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told NDTV near the India pavilion at Davos. "Apart from that, we have had a very senior-level committee headed by the principal scientific advisor to advise us on what should be the policy framework. So that recommendation has already come. We are discussing with all the stakeholders to get the right regulatory framework where innovation and regulation are neatly balanced," the Union Minister said.

Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which has a presence at the vast six-reactor facility, told NDTV that the loss of cooling at the ZNPP could have led to a nuclear accident.
"A few times, yes," Mr Grossi said on whether there had been close calls at the plant.
"This nuclear power plant, which was occupied in the early hours of the [Russia-Ukraine] war, is just on the frontline which means that it is extremely fragile," he said.
