Luxembourg/New Delhi: US President Barack Obama will visit ArcelorMittal's Cleveland plant in Ohio, which recently completed 100 years of making steel.

"We are honoured to host the President of the United States at ArcelorMittal Cleveland, and I look forward to personally welcoming him at the mill on Thursday (November 14)," Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman and CEO of the world's largest steelmaker, said in a statement today.

He said "the facility recently celebrated 100 years of steel making in Cleveland and therefore, it is especially rewarding to host President Obama at this site that symbolises the strength and overall increased competitiveness of American manufacturing."

ArcelorMittal Cleveland is the company's most productive integrated mill in North America and the facility is one of the most productive units worldwide, based on employee hours per ton of steel produced, the company said.

The facility's record as the most productive integrated steel mill in North America has been critical to its longevity, ArcelorMittal Cleveland vice-president and general manager Eric Hauge said.

The plant is emerging as a global centre of excellence for the production of advanced high-strength steels that are critical to future automotive fuel efficiency, Hauge said.

This year alone, ArcelorMittal has invested USD 70 million to secure the plant's position as a leader in the industry.
