Germany, Japan ask why just India and not us?

New Delhi: One of the biggest news points of his India visit was US President Barack Obama's endorsement of India's bid for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council (UNSC).

The comment has rhetorical value, stress US government sources, but it is inviting criticism from other countries.

Hours after Obama left India for Indonesia, the US Ambassador Timothy Roemer spoke to NDTV's Prannoy Roy. Roemer says countries like Germany and Japan want to know why India has been singled out for American support in its UN campaign.

Like India, Japan, Brazil and Germany have been campaigning to join the elite group that holds permanent membership of the Security Council.
