'Mera Pyaar Bhara Namaskar,' Says US President Barack Obama
New Delhi: US President Barack Obama broke into Hindi thrice while addressing the Indian media at a joint briefing with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

"Mera Pyar Bhara Namaskar (Greetings with love)," President Obama said as he began speaking after PM Modi's opening statement.

Borrowing a defining phrase of PM Modi's campaign for last year's national election, the US president remarked, "Thanks for hosting me at chai pe charcha. We need more of those at the White House."

President Obama and PM Modi had earlier taken a stroll in the lawns of Hyderabad House and bonded over a cup of tea served by the Indian prime minister. After the meeting, officials announced a breakthrough in the nuclear deal stuck since 2008.

In his own statement, PM Modi referred to the president by first name several times and talked about their personal chemistry.

The joint briefing followed talks between the two leaders and their delegations at Hyderabad House.

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama arrived today for a three-day visit. He will be the first American president to be chief guest at India's Republic Day celebrations.
