US President Barack Obama made a strong appeal for religious freedom at a town hall-style meeting in Delhi on Tuesday, weighing in on one of India's most controversial topics as he wound up a three-day visit.
US President Barack Obama tonight called up Prime Minister Narendra Modi to greet him on Diwali and they agreed to meet in Turkey on the sidelines of the G20 Summit to be held early next week.
Pakistan's decision to ban media coverage of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jamat-ud Dawa (JuD) and its front Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) and other outlawed groups was part of a commitment given to US President Barack Obama by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his recent visit, a media report said today.
Even as visiting Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif kept up his tirade against India, the US said President Barack Obama had made clear to him that Pakistan should not discriminate among terrorist groups.
India today hoped the outcome of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visit to US will convey a clear message to Islamabad that the international community was "deeply concerned about its support to and sponsorship of terrorism".
Pakistan has said that it has taken sufficient action against terrorism and there was "no-question" of doing more, adding that it was time for the world to play a bigger role in this fight.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived US on a four-day official visit to the US today.
