From the remote landscapes of Ladakh to the bustling streets of Pune, Usha Silai Schools are transforming lives by equipping women with sewing skills, fostering entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable livelihoods. Through partnerships with local organizations, these initiatives are empowering women like Kaneez Fatima and the women of Meghalaya's Miktoksi brand to stitch not just clothes but stories of resilience and independence

For Kaneez Fatima it all started with a simple sewing machine. A tool that most see as an ordinary household object became an extraordinary tool of transformation in Kaneez's hands. The turning point came when she joined the USHA Silai School. After learning sewing from Usha silai school, Kaneez Fatima completed a 1 year diploma course from Ladakh skill development centre.

Galaxy Enterprise in partnership with USHA Silai School established a Training cum Production Centre (TCPC) in Tura. Now they have developed their own store where they sell clothes stitched by Usha silai school trained women, under their own brand name Miktoksi.

After the training, the USHA silai school trainees were employed in the production centre and began receiving job orders to sew products which were then sold in the Miktoksi store.

The India Sponsorship Committee (ISC), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting underprivileged children, has teamed up with Usha, to create an empowering space for women entrepreneurs.
