Women's Premier League: Mumbai Indians Defeat Delhi Capitals To Clinch Inaugural Title

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side thrashed Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in the summit clash of WPL 2023 on Sunday.

After winning the toss, Meg Lanning opted to bat first. However, DC stumbled as MI bowlers wrecked a havoc and dismantled their batting line-up. They posted a total of 131/9 in 20 overs.

Issy Wong and Hayley Matthews were the pick among the bowlers as they scalped three wickets each.

During the chase of 132, Mumbai Indians lost some early wickets but Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt stitched a crucial partnership and kept the momentum towards their side.

Nat Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten at 60 off 55 balls and took Mumbai Indians across the line with three balls and seven wickets remaining.

Mumbai Indians bagged the inaugural Women's Premier League title. Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning won the orange cap while all-rounder Hayley Matthews won the purple cap.
