Say no to Obesity

About the Campaign

Obesity is a rising public health crisis in India, afflicting all age groups. The World Health Organization (WHO) has flagged a concerning trend of excess weight and obesity in the country. A government survey (2019-2021) indicated that 24% of women and nearly 23% of men between 15 and 49 years of age were either overweight or obese. According to the National Institute of Health, there are an estimated 135 million obese people in India. These statistics highlight India’s weight problem.

Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a nationwide anti-obesity campaign, urging every Indian to cut down on their oil intake by 10 per cent. In his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast, PM Modi nominated 10 people from various fields to join the fight against obesity, asking each to nominate more.

Addressing obesity is not just about individual health but a national priority, as it impacts productivity, healthcare costs, and the overall well-being of society. The trifecta of unhealthy lifestyle choices, processed food, and sedentary habits – linked to obesity - have triggered a surge in lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.

Aligned with the nationwide mission to fight obesity, DoctorNDTV is launching a digital campaign to educate, engage, and empower people to take charge of their health. Through expert-led articles, video content, interactive discussions, and real-life success stories, we aim to provide practical solutions to excess weight and inspire healthier lifestyle choices. Join us in this campaign and Say No To Obesity.
