Yadadiri Temple Earns Telangana A Place On The World Spiritual Map

Yadadri, a 1000-year-old temple situated 60 Kms from Hyderabad in YadadriBhuvanagiri district of Telangana newly opened its door to the public in a magnificent new avatar. After more than five years of renovation and reconstruction, Telangana's Yadadri temple, which has been expanded from a small hill shrine into a sprawling pilgrimage centre, was inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on March 28, with an estimated building cost of around Rs 1,200 crore.

Situated atop Yadadiri hillock called Yadagiri-Gutta, it has been transformed from a mere 2500 sq yards to a sprawling 4-acre temple. Present in the Garbhagriha, is Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha in his 5 forms in the Sanctum Sanctorum of this Cave temple. The mega project was taken up with an initial budget of nearly Rs 2,000 crore and works were launched on October 11, 2016.

The temple was constructed in record time, using 3-lakh tones of Krushna-Shila, the famous Black Granite stones from Gurujapally in Prakasham district. Yadadriis said to be the only temple in India that has been built with black stone. This magnificent temple is witness to the untiring workmanship of 800 traditional sculptors from AAlagadda, Mahabalipuram and various other places in Tamandu.

Walls adorning Prahlada Chritra in Gold, 58 Yali Pillars and modern facilities for pilgrims make it a must-visit and sure to leave all spellbound.

Yadadiri with its grand shape manifests the vision and resolve of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. An ardent devotee himself, he has sought to adorn the 45-feet high Vimana Gopuram atop the Sactoria with gold with his generous contributions and donations from devotees.

The beauty of the temple is as captivating as it is humbling.
