Dr Faheem Younus, Chief of Infectious Diseases, University of Maryland on the #VaccinateIndia telethon explained how vaccines can effectively bring the pandemic under control citing the example of United States. Calling vaccines 'game changers', Dr Younus said that the expectation is big waves of infections can be avoided if 40-50 percent of the population is vaccinated and once 70-80 percent of the population is vaccinated then we can hope to go back to normal.
