Cars are no longer symbol of the rich and cycle that of the poor that has changed, especially in the European countries, says Pankaj Munjal, Chairman and Managing Director, HMC, a Hero Motors Company. He says that in these countries, every road has paved pedestrian space and cycle tracks. Car ownership is turning expensive from congestion tax to parking charges. Here are four things that Mr Munjal recommends – make safe cycle lanes a must for every smart cities, have car free zones for decongestion, people need to cycle more and like some countries push for E-cycles as the second car.
