It's been over a year since COVID-19 tightened its grip over the world and presented health, economic, and humanitarian crises of unprecedented proportions. Amidst all the mayhem of rising cases, distressed medical workers, and disrupted markets, one thing which has stood out is the unwavering spirit of the people, working together and supporting each other during this critical period. Imbibing the same spirit, Ponty Chadha Foundation (PCF), the CSR arm of Wave Group, has remained at the forefront of serving and strengthening Indian communities in tangible ways. Be it the welfare of children with Special Needs or providing community aid & support – PCF has taken the lead in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Reaching Out To The Community
Ponty Chadha Foundation has shown great commitment towards society, by developing actions and initiatives that alleviate the consequences of COVID-19. Driving the vision of late Ponty Chadha, the PCF works on the values of extending ‘sewa' to the community. The foundation has raised its effort cutting across the societies and community requirements in these tumultuous times. Right from medical supplies, nutritious food & water, oxygen availability, raising awareness of Covid appropriate behaviour, vaccination drive, and regular health monitoring – PCF has enhanced its reach and efforts.
The shortage of oxygen in various parts of the country has left COVID-19 patients gasping for breath. The situation has been particularly grim for the weaker section of the society facing financial crunch to buy medicines. Lack of drinkable water in the scorching heat, especially for people standing outside cremation grounds and testing centres has added to the devastating situation. In this light, Ponty Chadha Foundation has extended its support to the government authorities and the medical fraternity to mitigate the crisis. It has supplied oxygen concentrators, provided monetary assistance to various Gurudwaras across Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Western U.P for medicines, rations, and oxygen langars. In a week-long drive with the help of its volunteers, PCF has distributed hundreds of boxes of mineral water with thousands of water bottles across multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh to people in the long queues outside crematoriums, health centres, and hospitals. It has distributed food packets, juice, and biscuits to construction workers, the labour community, and shanties as a part of the hunger relief and nutrition campaign. Setting up the first level of a medical centre with oxygen availability, medical assistance, and ambulance for Covid patients till the time they are shifted into Covid healthcare facility, organising vaccination drive for construction workers, and leading sanitisation drive at significant places are some of the areas where PCF is working tirelessly.
Reaching Out To Children With Special Needs
Children are the lights of life and while the society at large is fighting the Covid battle, it is these special kids, the children of Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan (MBCN), the charitable educational institution under PCF, who have taken upon themselves to extend full support to this battle. These ever enthusiastic and energetic kids initiated a poster campaign under #QuaranitneDiaries raising awareness around Covid appropriate behaviour, sharing techniques to destress with #FightStressWithMBCN, and also workshops on fireless cooking and baking to highlight the importance of nutritious and healthy cooking.
MBCN, since its inception, has been laser-focused towards ensuring mental health, skill development, and behaviour management of kids with special needs. Armed with expert teachers and therapists, the school provides holistic ground for the well-rounded development of kids that empowers them to be self-sufficient. To date, more than 25000 kids have passed out with flying colors from the institute and are the masters of their self-dependant life. The pandemic has presented unique challenges especially for these kids, but MBCN stays committed to working for these kids. It has started implementing online counselling under Virtual Learning Programme and customised behaviour management plans to help the children cope with psychological hurdles effectively.
With a long-standing philosophy of building a generous society and creating a positive impact on the lives of the people, Wave Group's Ponty Chadha Foundation has been deeply integrated into fighting the good fight against COVID-19. PCF has been working in diverse segments to bring a revolutionary change in the overall ecosystem of society. Be it education, healthcare, nutrition, or security, the foundation's dedicated efforts to embrace every sector are backed with the sole objective of fostering a better tomorrow for the weaker section of society.
