New Delhi:

Six people, including an 80-year-old man, were killed, after part of the roof of a dargah, or the tomb of a Muslim saint, collapsed in Delhi's Nizamuddin area on Friday evening.

At least five others injured in the accident were admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment.

Officials said that people were visiting the dargah for Friday prayers when the roof collapsed, news agency PTI reported.

The Dargah Sharif Patte Shah is located near the Humayun's Tomb in Nizamuddin East.

Visuals from the site showed a small, lime-green building around an open courtyard as the roof on one side of the building appeared to have collapsed.

Multiple rescue agencies, including the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), Delhi Police, NDRF and Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), were rushed to the site following the incident.

Unconfirmed reports say there were 15-20 people inside the building, including the 'imam,' when the roof of the building, which is believed to be about 25-30 years old, collapsed. The site has been cordoned off.

While some may argue that people in Delhi are now more aware of air pollution than they were a decade back, my rebuttal would be that awareness does not mean that people are concerned.
