India At 70: The Tricolour's Journey

In 1904, Swami Vivekanand's disciple Sister Nivedita designed India's first flag. The Tricolour was unfurled for the first time in Kolkata during an anti-partition rally on August 7, 1906. Pingali Venkayya then conceived a flag design that was the forbearer of the current national flag. On August 15, 1947, the flag was unfurled for the first time as that of an independent India. Take a look at the Tricolour's journey and its evolution.
