The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic saw people running from pillar to post in search of oxygen cylinders, medicines, and other essentials. In the middle of the second wave, Introbot, the WhatsApp chatbot (Number: +1-2345178991) came to the rescue for many people as it provided for real-time, verified, trusted medical resource information and became India's go-to COVID resources helpline. In less than 30 days, it responded to 7.5 lakh SOS queries in 800 towns and cities across the country. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) linked WhatsApp chatbot that saved lives in April-May could become a lifeline of people in any medical emergency in the coming days. Utkarsh Roy, Co-Founder Introbot said,
Introbot evolved over the span of a month. It is basically a provider for real-time, verified, trusted medical resource information such as oxygen cylinders, medicine, hospital bed, ambulances and so on over WhatsApp and we have become India's go-to Covid resources helpline.
Utkarsh Roy, Stanford alum and Divyanshu Anuj, BITS Pilani repurposed a bot they were using already for the B2B business community, start-up founders and VC ecosystems to matchmake medical demand and supply.
Their team comprises 15 core members, 25 partner outfits and 600 heads of human capital. They provide their service for free but expect users to give their feedback. With every feedback on a resource, like ‘helpful' or ‘out of stock' or ‘no reply', their bot gets better and better.
Divayaansh Anuj, Co-Founder, Introbot said,
It is a Super simple WhatsApp bot that anyone could talk to like another number on WhatsApp. We saw 5,00,000 people come and verify our 30,000 suppliers. So each supplier has been verified 20 times over a month and we have been able to solve this problem.
While the team hopes that the third wave doesn't hit the country, their bot will stay in business serving non-stop medical demands for blood, beds, doctors. But should Delta Plus or some yet unknown variant strike, Introbot could be a beacon of hope once again. Mr Roy said,
We discovered that we are the hope collective. What we are doing is not just providing medical resources to people, in fact, we are providing hope to people.
