Smriti Irani To Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Ministers Who Lost 2024 Polls

BJP heavyweights Smriti Irani, Arjun Munda and Ajay Mishra Teni, among others, were unseated in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Election Commission of India has declared results for 542 of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, with the BJP winning 240 seats and the Congress 99.

Women candidates such as Congress' Kumari Selja, the BJP's Kangana Ranaut and Hema Malini, Samajwadi Party's Dimple Yadav and RJD's Misa Bharti won in their respective constituencies in the general elections.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav along with four other members of his family won their respective constituencies in the Lok Sabha polls as the party established itself as the largest one in Uttar Pradesh by winning 37 seats.

At least 15 Muslim candidates have won Lok Sabha seats across the country, including the TMC nominee and former India cricketer Yusuf Pathan who secured a comfortable victory over Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in the Congress veteran's Baharampur bastion.

Italian PM Giorgia Meloni congratulated PM Modi on the third consecutive electoral victory in the Lok Sabha polls, stressing that she is certain that both leaders will work together to strengthen the friendship that will unite the two countries.
