New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "remarkable life story-from tea-seller to Prime Minister is a reflection of the determination of the Indian people to succeed," President Obama has said in an interview to magazine India Today.

In the interview conducted via email on the eve of his arrival in Delhi to serve as guest of honour for India's Republic Day celebrations, President Obama praises the PM for "a clear vision of the big things he wants India to achieve."

POTUS arrives in Delhi at 10 am on Sunday with wife Michelle for a three-day trip, making him the first serving US president to visit India twice. He will serve as Chief Guest at the Republic Day parade on Monday, hold bileratel talks with the PM, address heads of industry, record a joint radio address with the PM, and visit the Taj Mahal.

"When I addressed the Indian Parliament on my last visit (in 2010), I outlined my vision for how we could become global partners meeting global challenges... I'd like to think that the stars are aligned to finally realise the vision I outlined," he said.
