Cyclone Phailin: Heavy rain lashes Andhra Pradesh

Heavy rainfall lashed parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh on Friday. Cyclone Phailin is expected to hit the state tomorrow. Currently winds are touching a high speed of 220 km per hour.

The Army, Navy and Air Force are on standby in both Odisha and Andhra Pradesh for emergency and relief operations.

Government holidays have been cancelled for the next month.

Lakhs of government employees in Andhra Pradesh from other departments who have been on strike have also said that they will help with any relief and rehabilitation work by temporarily returning to work if the cyclone hits.
