KTM 250 Adventure

KTM India launched the 250 Adventure motorcycle in India last month at Rs. 2.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The newest and affordable touring adventure bike is around Rs. 56,000 cheaper than the elder sibling 390 Adventure.

The recently launched KTM 250 Adventure is the Austrian brand's most-affordable adventure tourer in the country, which is positioned below the KTM 390 Adventure. However, the bike made its global debut in November last year.

The KTM 250 Duke is priced at Rs. 2.48 lakh, which is around Rs. 56,000 less than the KTM 390 Adventure. However, the motorcycle is about Rs. 39,000 more expensive than the KTM 250 Duke.

The all-new KTM 250 Adventure shares its underpinnings with the bigger 390 Adventure, however, it borrows powertrain from the 250 Duke.

Dimensionally, the KTM 250 Adventure measures 2154 mm in length, 900 mm in width and 1263 mm in height. The wheelbase and ground clearance stands at 1430 mm and 200 mm respectively. The seat height of the bike measures 855 mm.

Unlike the elder sibling 390 Adventure, the 250 Adventure bike does not get a full-LED headlamp, instead uses the halogen headlight with the LED daytime lights (DRLs).

The motorcycle is powered by a 248 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, sourced from the KTM 250 Duke. It produces 29.5 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm of peak torque available at 7,500 rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and gets an assist and slipper clutch.

The bike also gets an LCD screen instead of a TFT unit as seen on the 390 Adventure. The white backlit unit is easy to read but does not come with Bluetooth connectivity as seen on the latter.

Suspension duties of the 250 Adventure are carried out by 43 mm WP APEX USD forks up front and a mono-shock at the rear. The front unit comes with 170 mm of travel while the rear shock absorber has 177 mm of travel.

The all-new KTM 250 Adventure motorcycle rides on a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel with dual-purpose MRF tyres. Braking performance on the 250 Adventure comes from a 320 mm disc up front and a 230 mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS.

KTM's quarter-litre tourer is claimed to offer a range of 400 km on a full tank which is 14.5-litres. The 250 Adventure has a kerb weight of 177 kg, which makes it 2 kg lighter than the 390 Adventure.
