A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the "NDTV World Summit 2024 - The India Century", day 2 of NDTV's flagship event witnessed discussions around global issues including conflict, diplomacy, climate change, art and finance. From India's G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant to British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron, and Former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations TS Tirumurti, day 2 saw a host of dignitaries attend NDTV World Summit 2024 and keep their views.
In his keynote address on Monday, PM Modi spoke about why the 21st Century is 'The India Century' and how the country is growing rapidly and how investors from around the world are excited about India being the fastest-growing major economy.
He also launched NDTV World, a new home for global news at the Summit, with the tagline: "The World From Where India Stands". NDTV World aims to be a leading voice from Asia and India on the global stage.

"If we are taking so much from society, why can't we give it back? Similar to how we pay monthly electricity bills, why can't we pay back to our society?" asked Ms Gowami.
Talking about the role of technology in philanthropy, she said, "It is important to show the exact state of affairs to youngsters (via social media) so that they know what change is required in the society. Technology has played a huge role in building Viksit Bharat.""It does put pressure on India. The more serious the war situation becomes, the tougher it is. If we can play a role in peacekeeping, we will."

"As I was reflecting on it over the years, having built a unicorn, having funded many companies which became unicorns, I just realised that why are we celebrating these when actually what our country needs right now is lasting enduring businesses where start-ups are built off the back of real revenues and real profits?," he added, while speaking at the NDTV World Summit 2024.
Mr Bahl called to focus on building businesses with the intention of making them lasting and enduring and aim for goals which enable us to get there. "What India probably needs right now is not 100 or 200 or 300 unicorns or 500 unicorns. We need 10,000 Indicorns because that will form the bedrock of the start-up ecosystem and that will create the steady flow of companies that eventually become listed companies and large businesses."

"We need to create the Black Rock of India led by a woman. Then we'll make it. That, to me, is what will drive the entrepreneurship," she added.
Further talking about growth of equity investments in India, he said, "Folks like us made it very easy and transparent. Earlier investing was limited to certain cities but now a lot of customers are coming from smaller cities."
When asked if IPO is on the card for Groww, he said, "It is somewhere down the line, we don't know when."
China accounts for 60% of all green energy today and the rest of the world is the other 40%. India is second only to China, he added.
Talking about India's progress, he added, "If ten years ago someone asked me where one needs to go to see climate progress, I would have said a Brussels or Geneva, but today I would say go see what a Beijing, Delhi or Jakarta are doing."
Mr Priyadarshi said that while we should continue to focus on sustainability, lot of developing countries including India should have a three-pronged narrative. "While we fight on sustainability, but we don't at all lose our emphasis on economic growth and energy security," he added.
But what is India's role in global climate leadership and what are the priorities for India in settling the terms for the climate agenda. At NDTV World Summit, we look to find these answers with an expert panel:
Mr Mahbubani said it is time for Britain's permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council to be given to India. "The would cheer if India gets a UNSC seat, because it would give a perspective that would be understood both by the West and the East," he said. He also stressed India's role in addressing the conflict in Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Iran among others.

"My story world is something I have already seen or heard. I put it into a fictional world. These characters come from my interpretation of reality," says Chidananda S. Naik, Director and Screenwriter at the NDTV World Summit.
Chidananda won the Cinéfondation first Prize at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival for his film 'Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know...'
"Bunnyhood is a story about learning to lie and why we lie so much in life," she adds while speaking at the NDTV World Summit 2024.
"Carbon credits will come. It is not in the rear view mirror anymore. There will be challenges but good organisations who can adapt and understand will be generating carbon credits. There will be a very vibrant market," he added.
"Decarbonising the transport sector at one level is our corporate objective. The name Billion means we would like to d a billion kilometers of decarbonised transportation," he added.
India's transportation requirements have multiplied by three times in the last 3 years and now stands at 3 tonnes kilometers. It is growing faster than the GDP, he said. Giving out the reason behind this, Mr Wajid said, "It is because of increased urbanisation, consumerism, and e-commerce sector. At BillionE we would like to see how to make this transportation more sustainable."
Watch out for his session on "The Climate Agenda: Setting the Terms" at the NDTV World Summit Day 2.
