A meeting between top US diplomat Antony Blinken and Russia's Sergei Lavrov was seen as unlikely as the two men have not been in the same room since a G20 meeting in Bali in July.

India has said it wants a collective global effort to deal with problems posed by cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, and the finance ministry said it had held a seminar for G20 member states to discuss how to come up with a common framework.

Japan's Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will skip a meeting of G20 foreign ministers due to take place in New Delhi, India, this week, a Japanese government official said.
