Over 40 Delhi schools received a bomb threat via email. After checking all Delhi schools, the Police declared it a bomb hoax. Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi assured that the department is ensuring the security of all schools and children and will make every possible effort to continue doing it.
"We will soon reach the source of the email and take action against it," he said.
DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar were among the 44 schools that received a threat, prompting action. Students were sent back home, while the police were informed.
According to a copy of the email accessed by NDTV, the email was sent at 11:38 on Sunday night. The email claimed that multiple bombs had been planted inside the buildings.
"The bombs are small and hidden very well," the email read.
The sender demanded $30,000 to defuse bombs.
"It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate. You all deserve to suffer and lose limbs," the sender wrote.
The Delhi Police is investigating the IP address and looking for the sender of the email.
The alert came in between the morning commotion - school buses arriving, parents dropping their children off, and staff preparing for the morning assembly. The Delhi Fire Department received the first call from GD Goenka School at 6:15 am followed by another call from DPS RK Puram at 7:06 am.
The fire officials, including the dog squad, bomb detection teams, and local police reached the schools and conducted the search operation. So far, nothing suspicious has been found, a police official said.

In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Kejriwal wrote, "The people of Delhi have never seen such a bad state of law and order in Delhi before. Amit Shah ji should come and answer the people of Delhi."
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi too questioned the BJP-ruled central government over the rise in cases of murder, ransom, firing and bomb threats in Delhi. "I have not seen such a state of fear in Delhi," said AAP leader Manish Sisodia while speaking to news agency ANI. "It shocks us that our children are not safe. BJP has induced an environment of fear in Delhi. Law & order situation has collapsed in Delhi... If the national capital is not safe, what is the central government doing?" he said.
Earlier, in October, on a Sunday morning, an explosion occurred outside a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in Rohini's Prashant Vihar. The explosion damaged the school wall and nearby shops and vehicles.
Following this, the very next day, on October 21, schools received an email threatening a bomb blast at all CRPF schools by Tuesday, 11 am. An investigation began immediately and the threat was found to be a hoax.

An integrated command and control centre has been proposed in the 2025-26 Delhi budget, presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday, for real-time monitoring of air quality, water pollution, noise levels, and waste management.
As part of broader strategy to tackle the expected winter pollution peak, the Delhi government will install six new air quality monitoring stations across the national capital over the next three months, Environment Minister said.
Delhi remained India's most polluted megacity by a wide margin during the 2024-25 winter, with an average PM2.5 concentration of 175 micrograms per cubic metre, according to an analysis released on Tuesday.
A small city on the Meghalaya-Assam border, nearly 2,000 kilometres away from Delhi, is the most polluted in the world, according to a report published by a global pollution watchdog.

Friday December 20, 2024While some may argue that people in Delhi are now more aware of air pollution than they were a decade back, my rebuttal would be that awareness does not mean that people are concerned.

Tuesday December 10, 2024Delhi welcomed us with monsoon rains and mangos. We were home. Fast forward a couple of years, in the winter of 2012, I found myself in denial about something other parents, mostly expats, were calling toxic air.

Friday November 22, 2024On a good day, such as today, the AQI reading in Delhi is 407. We are jubilant at the sickly sunshine trickling through the slightly dissipated smog. At least its not 1600.
