As pollution season sets in Delhi, air quality has already begun to dip in many parts of the national capital. It is already in the poor to very poor category in many parts of the national capital, which is very concerning since it's still not the peak pollution season. The Delhi government has rolled out its annual winter action plan. But there are no new measures and there is sort of a reiteration of measures that, according to experts, have failed to clean up the air in the national capital. Where does the buck stop?

The Delhi air crisis has led to hospitals in the capital seeing an increase in patients with respiratory ailments linked to severe air pollution in the city.
At 371, the Air Quality Index (AQI) remains in the "very poor" category with Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5) being the prominent pollutant.
In an effort to curb pollution levels, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) carried out night cleaning and sweeping of roads at several locations in the national capital early Friday morning.
Delhi emerged as the most polluted city in India, recording an average PM2.5 level of 243.3 micrograms per cubic metre air, with pollution surging by 19.5 per cent in week-on-week increase, according to a report released on Thursday.
