One Down, 6 Phases To Go. 88 Seats In 2nd Round Of Lok Sabha Polls Today

The second phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election begins this morning with voting in 89 constituencies across 13 states and union territories, including all 20 of Kerala's seats, 14 of Karnataka's 28, and 13 of Rajasthan's 25.

Eighty-eight constituencies in 13 states will go to polls today, the second phase of the mammoth seven-phased Lok Sabha elections.

The second of seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls will take place on Friday and the stage is set for exciting contests in some of the 88 constituencies across 13 states and Union Territories where votes will be cast.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hit out at the alliance of Samajwadi Party and Congress in Uttar Pradesh and alleged that "do shehzade" (two princes) have come together for the politics of appeasement.

Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi abolished the inheritance tax after his mother Indira Gandhi's death in 1984 to save her wealth from going to the government, PM Modi said, alleging that the Congress now wants to bring back the levy.

Besides the BJP, the Congress is the only party with a national presence, making discrediting it a key goal for Modi. Now, the onus is on the Congress to defend itself and launch a counteroffensive.
