NYC mayoral Polls 2025 LIVE: Voters are set to choose the next mayor to run the country's largest city

New York City's voters are set to choose the next mayor to run the country's largest city. The polling stations opened at 6 am local time and will remain open till 9 pm.

Zohran Mamdani, who won the Democratic primary earlier this year, faces former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent, and perennial Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, who is trying to land a massive upset.

If Mamdani wins, it would give New York City its first Muslim mayor and youngest leader in generations. If Cuomo wins, he will make a remarkable comeback four years after resigning as governor over sexual harassment allegations. If Sliwa wins, Republicans will take charge of the largest city when New Yorkers are looking for a leader who can keep US President Donald Trump at bay.

Tuesday's general election is being conducted as a traditional one, meaning the candidate who gets the most votes wins. The city's party primaries were determined using ranked-choice voting, which allowed voters to rank candidates in order of preference.

Virginia Governor’s Race Will Test Trump And Democrats Nationally — And Make History
Polls have closed in Virginia where voters were deciding a history-making race for governor Tuesday that will serve as a barometer of attitudes toward President Donald Trump and Democrats' attempts to regain their footing on the national stage.

Republican Winsome Earle-Sears, a staunch conservative who serves as Virginia's lieutenant governor, and Democrat Abigail Spanberger, a center-left Democrat and former CIA case officer who helped her party win a House majority during Trump's first presidency, were vying to become the first-ever woman to lead the commonwealth. Earle-Sears also would make history as the first Black woman elected governor in any state.

The race to replace term-limited Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin took on national dimensions from the start, serving as a testing ground for both parties one year ahead of national midterm elections that could redirect the country's course for the balance of Trump's second term. Virginia, a state Trump lost in three successive presidential contests, has been strained by many of his policies, particularly the steep cuts to the civil service and the ongoing government shutdown.

NYC Mayoral Election 2025 Live Updates: New York City Ballots Do Not Show Proof Of Election Fraud

For many years, New York voters have found candidates listed twice, three times or even more on their ballots when they go to the polling booth.

It isn't an error - it's a practice known as fusion voting that allows candidates to appear under multiple political parties.

But such intentional duplications on the New York City ballot this year, along with other layout choices, have some outside observers around the country wondering whether they are seeing evidence of rigged voting in Tuesday's widely-watched mayoral race.

Billionaire X owner Elon Musk, who briefly served as a top advisor to President Donald Trump, was among those criticizing the ballots.

"The New York City ballot form is a scam!" he wrote in an X post. "No ID is required. Other mayoral candidates appear twice. Cuomo's name is last in bottom right."

A voter told ANI, "There was a very big turnout today...hopefully we'll have a very good mayor. I'm just hoping that the one that wins is going to be fair and has a lot of integrity and teach our children what they should be taught."

Another voter said he voted straight down the democratic line because he feels the democratic party is for the people and not for the oligarchs. "I was very careful in making my selection. I'm for the people".

NYC Mayoral Elections 2025: New Yorkers Exoected To Pick Mamdani In Election

New Yorkers are projected to elect Democrat Zohran Mamdani as mayor Tuesday, opening a new front in opposition to Donald Trump and raising the specter the president will retaliate against the city where he made his name.

"If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required, to my beloved first home," Trump wrote on social media.
